Born in Boulder, Colorado, Ethan Brown Jones grew up twenty-five miles into the mountains in the beautiful, rural, and secluded Gilpin County. Jones began their primary education in the small town on Nederland, Colorado and eventually, went to high school at Boulder High School.

From a young age, Jones grew up with the arts in their life. Jones’s father, a Professor of ethno-musicology and music at the University of Colorado Boulder as well as an accomplished Pedal Steel Guitarist was Jones’s first musical inspiration, while Jones’s mother a flutist and English major, inspired Jones’s rhetorical and literary passions. Colorado provided the perfect backdrop for a young artist, the natural beauty strongly impacting Jones in their young age.

However, Colorado was far from the being an ideal place to grow up as a flamboyant, gay, gender non-conforming individual. One might note the use of the pronoun ‘they’ throughout this website—Jones’s preferred pronoun as a gender non-conforming individual.

From the mountains of Colorado, Jones moved across the country to study jazz piano at the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase College. Jones is currently a sophomore in the Conservatory and continues to further their musical education as well as learning other vital skills. Jones plays primarily jazz piano, while still furthering their skills in classical piano performance as well as musical direction, conducting, and accompanying.

Jones continues to study and work in the music industry as well as many other art industries. Jones continues to work on writing and publishing as well. To contact the Office of Ethan Brown Jones, please refer to the Contact tab.
